About

Lorem Ipsum* is a satirical publication written, edited, and published by students of Choate Rosemary Hall to discuss, critique, and illustrate campus and global issues through a humorous lens. Founded in 2015 by James Rose ’18, our readership extends beyond the student body, school faculty, and campus staff to include alumni, parents, and others not on campus. Although much of our mission centers on providing an outlet to discuss relevant and contentious issues from a satirical perspective, the publication also functions as a form of student entertainment.

Articles are distributed in print issues on campus at regular intervals as well on our website, app, and various social media platforms. The group maintains about a 50+ member team of writers, editors, and other staff, as well as a 250+ member total email list with an average weekly meeting attendance of 40 members. In 2017, the publication added a new team focusing on video content, mainly consisting of student-written skits and unscripted interviews. These videos available are available on YouTube and social media.

Interested students should attend weekly meetings of the club, which occur Tuesdays in the Project Room of St. John’s Hall (Room 306) at 6:45 PM. To submit a piece or be added to the email list, please email us at loremipsum@choate.edu. All quotations, events, and references attributed to real life persons are fabricated for comedic effect, and should not be interpreted as real occurrences. Although all articles are written under pseudonyms, which may or may not remain constant across different print issues, the writers involved in each issue are listed within the issue’s writers’ list, and all positions (“Staff Writer,” “Copy Editor,” etc.) are accurate to the actual authors of pieces. Lorem Ipsum* editors and advisers retain knowledge of the actual writers of each piece.
